The Green Tech Crowd made their second donation of equipment in Asia. Phnom Penh in Cambodia was the next stop. We were made aware of Pour un Sourire D’Enfant (PSE).

After visiting the grounds of the PSE “school” (village is a better description) we were amazed at the operation they have. We hope to help by getting more computers to them.

This was the first classroom we entered.

They currently have 3 classrooms with PC’s in them, 30 desktops per class. They had to buy these machines, taking valuable funds away from other projects.
The computers they have there are a little dated.

We were then shown to the library, where as we walked in we saw 20 children huddled around 5 computer monitors, there we saw first-hand how
desperate their need for equipment is.
PSE also have a mobile library, (bus full of books) driven to rural areas, we hope eventually to get some laptops on that bus to help educate remotely.

There had been 20 children huddled around these dated not fully functioning machines in the library.

Lastly we were shown the infirmary, this relatively small building of 50 staff has treated over 20’000 children, from helping with births, caring for the children attending the school with medical and psychological care.
The psychological need must be huge when you know the history of the country, and what the previous generation would have seen or been involved with. They also have mobile infirmaries that can get to the rural areas that also are in need of help.

The PSE infirmary has treated well over 20’000 people in Phnom Penh, not including their mobile units.

Brief history of PSE:
It was in 1995 that french couple Christian & Marie-France des Pallieres first visited Cambodia and saw a community living on a garbage dump, this shocked them to the core,
so much so that they finished their life in France and set on a new mission, the figures are astounding.

• In 1996, they started a small school for 40 kids.
• By 2004, this had grown to 4000.
• As of 2016 over 6500 children are educated by PSE, the kitchen produces over 8000 meals a day!

Anyone can apply to be helped by PSE & it is FREE! The staff there will assess each person/families application and help the one’s in most need. The school teaches primary all the way through to teaching trades once secondary is finished. It has over 28 trades, including: Mechanical, Electrical, Construction, Catering & Hospitality.

90% of PSE graduates find employment which goes towards helping Cambodia grow to its full potential

In summary, we found the perfect place to donate laptops to.
We can’t wait to get more IT equipment over to Cambodia to help this amazing organisation.
